Repair XP Installation Using Recovery Console

If you work with Home windows XP, you may be conscious of the choice "Repair Home windows XP Using Recovery Console" in the setup of the Home windows XP installation.

This is among the most under-utilized options that's getting used by customers when there's an accident within the Home windows XP operating-system.

I lately experienced this problem with my client's laptop as his laptop continues restarting.

When that occurs, the only real idea I'll get may be the boot up file (Boot.ini) is corrupted.

The simplest way to avoid it is by using the "Automatic Repair" function, however in this situation that choice is not available on my small client's laptop.

One other way out would be to "F" (meaning format) the hard disk from the laptop but consider the precious data you will erase.

Hence, I am giving my shot while using "old-school" command prompt style the Recovery Console".

Steps regarding how to go into the Recover Console:-

Press R in your keyboard to go in the Recovery Console.
Essentially around the Recovery Console is just command prompt, little else.
To start, Home windows will give you the required information that you should start your repair.

Listed here are the steps that you should be aware when carrying out this method:-

1) After the initial question, type 1 and press enter.
Type the administrator password (if available) striking enter.

2) Type Compact disc .. (note there has to be an area between Compact disc and .. )
This will take you towards the primary "C" directory.

3) Type the next characteristics.

* C:>ATTRIB -H C:BOOT.INI

* C:>ATTRIB -R C:BOOT.INI

* C:>ATTRIB -S C:BOOT.INI

4) Type DEL BOOT.INI

5) Next type BOOTCFG /Rebuild

This method might take a while to accomplish.

Once that's done, just type CHKDSK /R /F

This method again will require a while because it will look into the disk status. Do note it will take as much as half an hour or even more on reduced machines.

When the check disk process is finished, complete the entire process by typing FIXBOOT and click on enter.

You'll be given a prompt that reads "Sure you need to write a brand new boot sector towards the partition C: ?"

Simply type Y for yes. Once done, type exit to restart your computer. You'll now have the ability to boot normally in your Home windows XP.
